Apostille Service (Legalisation) - Apostille for Birth Certificate

UK GRO Certificates provides a fast and simple service to obtain an Apostille stamp on your Birth Certificate issued in United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Ireland.

We can issue an apostille on Marriage certificates from all United Kingdom countries or Ireland. Certificates from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland are all accepted. There are two versions of the birth certificate that are used in the UK or Ireland.

  • The long version: This document is an exact copy of the details held on the public register. It contains the date and place of birth, name given, gender, parent’s names (and maiden names where applicable), the fathers occupation, details of who registered the birth, date of registration and the registrars details.
  •  The short version: this document is an extract of the full record, and normally contains the name, date of birth and gender of the person. It does not contain as much detail as a full version.

We can legalise either version. The choice is yours as to which document to send us. A general point of note (but not advice) is that most people send the full version to be issued with the apostille. However, we cannot make this decision for you. Birth certificates are regularly issued with apostille certificates so that they can be used outside of the UK countries or Ireland. The apostille is requested on a birth certificate for various reasons

  1. As proof of identity
  2. To register the birth of a child in another country
  3. To enable travel between countries
  4. As proof of nationality
  5. As proof of parental responsibility
  6. As proof of age

*** - (Photocopies or original certified by a practising solicitor or notary officer)
